I have been fascinated by photography since I started taking pictures on a Kodak 126 format camera almost 50 years ago. My mother made the smart decision to "upgrade" me as a teenager, to a Canon AT-1, which she gave to a brother and me as a shared gift. My brother made the smart decision to buy his own a year or so later.
Photography continues to be a transforming experience for me. It gets me outside of my own head and into the world. It inspires me to continuously observe the beauty of this planet we share and to satisfy my curiosity about plants, animals, geology, history, architecture ...
My philosophy in photography is to reduce the world to simple, essential compositions, to seek out epic light and color, and perhaps most importantly, to take a lot of pictures in the hope that I create a good one every now and then!
Inside my galleries you'll find a combination of traditional photographs (almost entirely in color), along with "digital watercolor" images. These are photographs to which I have applied watercolor effects using Photoshop and Topaz filters. I tune the filters to produce the effects I'm looking for.
I hope you enjoy the pictures.
